FROM KEVIN

I'm most excited about the Cavalcade of Planes in Bollingbrook. My family loves to sit and watch the planes take-off and land after a shopping trip to Meijers. Probably helps my wife is a pilot for United.

Vuori opens on Jefferson Street Friday, June 5

Vuori opens Friday, June 5 at 10 a.m. at 110 W. Jefferson, which means Downtown Naperville now has more athleisure options per square block than the Fulton Market Equinox lobby. If you've been ordering their shorts online for two years, the store is right next to Faherty and the Apple Store.

Cavalcade of Planes parks warbirds at Clow Airport this weekend

This is the small-suburb airshow you'd assume requires a passport to find. Clow has a 3,400-foot runway, sits 12 minutes south on 53, and runs the Illinois Aviation Museum out of the same building year-round. Six bucks puts it in coffee-stop territory. Spend the extra $120 and JW Aviation puts you in a Cessna with 30 minutes of stick time. No outside alcohol, no pets, no drones. Bring cash because most food vendors don't take cards.

Brookfield's Dinos exhibit runs all summer and into October

Runs all summer and into October, so save it for a slow weekend instead of fighting the opening rush. A four-year-old who can name eight dinosaurs is going to lose it at the rib-cage tunnel.

NEW THIS WEEK

Knoch Knolls disc golf course reopens after full redesign

The disc golf course at Knoch Knolls got a full redesign and is open now, with rerouted holes, dual tee pads, and 2 basket positions per hole so the same course plays differently depending on your level. If the 4-year-old has been eyeing that plastic disc in the garage, there are free loaners at the Hole 1 kiosk, which means you can show up with nothing and still have a whole afternoon.

Rubber duck race hits the Riverwalk on June 5

The Riverwalk Duck Race is June 5, and if you have a four-year-old who has ever seen a rubber duck, you already know you're going. Adopt a duck at downtownnaperville.com before they sell out — it's a Riverwalk Foundation fundraiser, so the money is at least going somewhere real.

THE ROUNDUP

DuPage Children's Museum hosts MAGNA-TILES takeover June 11

DuPage Children's Museum is doing a MAGNA-TILES takeover on Thursday, June 11, and the first 100 families through the door get a free set to take home. If you have a 4-year-old who has destroyed your living room with the ones you already own, this is the move for next Thursday morning. Tickets at dupagechildrens.org/day-of-play-with-magna-tiles.

THE EAT

Tacoville brings 20-plus food vendors to Naper Settlement this weekend

Tacoville takes over Naper Settlement this Friday through Sunday, June 5-7, with 20-plus vendors doing birria, carne asada, elotes, churros, the works, plus two stages of live mariachi and cumbia and a full margarita and michelada situation. If the 4-year-old can handle a crowd and you can handle paying $14 for a margarita in the sun, this is the weekend move.

THE WEEKEND

The Forecast

Friday brings showers and thunderstorms in the window—64% chance means plan for wet. Start dry, pack an umbrella, and don't plan outdoor activities you can't move. Saturday looks better but stays iffy: morning's cool at 69, afternoon climbs to 83, but there's still a 50% chance of storms, so keep an eye on the radar before committing to anything. Sunday clears out. Morning's cool, mid-60s, but by afternoon you're solidly in the 80s with just a slight rain chance. This is your day to get outside.

Free Sunday park concerts are back this summer in Naperville

The Naperville Park District's free Sunday concert series is back, running 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at parks around the city. Lawn chairs, a blanket, and a cooler is a solid Sunday night for the whole crew, assuming we can nail down which park is on which week.

Games Around the World at the Kite Fly this Sunday, June 7

This Sunday, June 7, the Naperville Park District Kite Fly has a Games Around the World add-on hosted by KidsMatter, which is exactly the kind of thing that sounds low-stakes until your 4-year-old is 45 minutes deep in a passport stamp quest and you can't leave. Naper Settlement is running the USA station, other countries are represented too, and the Kite Fly itself is already a solid excuse to be outside.

DuPage Children's Museum Tinkering Camp opens registration for summer

DuPage Children's Museum is doing a Tinkering Camp this summer, and if you have a 4-year-old who destroys things for fun, this is the place to channel it. Registration is open now at dupagechildrens.org/summer-camp, and with camp starting in roughly late June 2026, spots are probably not unlimited.

Fox River trail in North Aurora is worth the short drive

The Fox River trail through North Aurora is one of those places that genuinely surprises you the first time, the kind of paved-path-next-to-moving-water combination that makes a 4-year-old feel like an explorer and takes maybe 20 minutes to reach from most of Naperville. Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26, already passed, but the next stretch of warm Thursdays and Fridays is exactly when this trail is least crowded.

DuPage Children's Museum members-only Bubbles night is June 5

DuPage Children's Museum has a members-only Bubbles night on Friday, June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m., and if you have a 4-year-old who loses their mind over bubbles, this is the move. Membership is still open if you're not in yet, and the registration link is dupagechildrens.org/members-only-bubbles/.

Aurora Farmers Market opens its 113th season Saturday

Aurora is a 20-minute drive south and the 8-to-noon window means you can hit it early and own the rest of the day. The bag giveaway, plant giveaway, and rain barrel raffle stack so you bring something home even without buying a single tomato. Miss Jamie at 10 is the kid hook. 113 years and counting.

Around the rumour mill: Leo's owner reportedly opening something new in the area

There's a rumor in the Downers Grove parents group that the Leo's owner is opening something new, but the post is basically just a name and an exclamation point. We're going to need more before we can tell you anything useful.
